Obituary for Dorothy Jean Schob West
Dorothy Jean Schob West, age 86, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born November 14, 1927, in Frazeysburg, daughter of the late Charles Garrett and Selma Miller Needs. She attended Marietta High School, and she owned and operated the Lone Elm Restaurant in Ava. She was also employed as an aide at Summit Acres Nursing Home. Mrs. West was a Methodist by faith, and she was a former member of the Elba Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed playing euchre, sewing, shopping, taking Sunday rides, and she loved her family.\
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Schob, who died April 22, 1963; two daughters, Wilma Jean Russell and Tina G. Schob; one son, Kevin E. Schob; one grandson, Sean M. Koval; one sister, Alice Mullinex; and one brother, David Garrett.
Surviving are four daughters, Linda L. (Butch) Gebhart of Roseville, Doreen C. Clark of Dexter City, and Vicki L. (Dennis) Clark and Kelly R. (Doug) Bettinger, both of Caldwell; one step-son, Charles E. (Donna) Schob of Marietta; her special friend and caregiver, Pam Buckey of Ava; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank her friends and caregivers at Summit Acres Nursing Home.
Friends may call Sunday, March 23, 2014, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, March 24th at 1PM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Lund Cemetery in Macksburg.
