Obituary for Eleanor J. Briggs
Eleanor J. Briggs, age 91, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born June 7, 1924, in Brookfield Twp., Noble County, daughter of the late Sheldon and Hannah Kuntz Ramage. She was a graduate of Belle Valley High School, and she retired as executive director for the Noble County Unit of the American Cancer Society. She was also employed as a cook for Caldwell Exempted Village Schools, by the Noble County License Bureau, the Noble County Selective Service, the Noble Soil and Water Conservation office, the Noble County Auditor’s office, Worl Thompson Motors, and Don Reed Insurance. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Caldwell, and she enjoyed reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don C. Briggs, whom she married October 31, 1945, and who died December 5, 1970; one daughter, Elaine Pilcher; and one granddaughter, Amy M. Briggs Brown.
Surviving are her children, Ronald “Ron” L. (Lois) Briggs of Caldwell, Gary D. (Barbara) Briggs of Naperville, Illinois, Marilyn (Tom) Courson of Columbus, and Fred (Susan) Briggs of Westerville; one sister, Nancy Ramage of Columbus; one brother, Bill (Joy) Ramage of Heath; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) Sanford, Andrea (Mike) Dolter, Lynette (Tim) Lewis, Jeremy (Katie) Courson, Kristen Briggs, Mark Briggs, Emily (Josh) Click, and Ericka (Adam) Odoski; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, February 1, 2016, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, February 2nd at 11AM with Pastor Jay Workman officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Lake Baptist Camp, c/o First Baptist Church, 518 North Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
