Obituary for Roger Dean Brown
Roger Dean Brown, age 88, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a courageous battle with severe health issues. He was born September 21, 1927, in South Olive, son of the late Rev. Walter H. and Erma I. Johnson Brown. He was a 1944 graduate of Dexter City High School, and a 1952 graduate of Ohio State University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting. While there, he became a member of Delta Sigma Phi. He was a veteran of World War II, having served three years with the United States Air Force in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was employed by E. I. Dupont in Wilmington, Delaware, and the Rubbermaid Corporation in Wooster, after which he accepted a cost accounting position with Akro Corporation in Canton, from which he retired in 1993 as treasurer and vice-president of production. He was a 60 year member of Sharon Lodge #136, F&AM, a life member of the Valley of Canton, AASR, 32nd degree mason, a life member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721, a member of the Canton Eagles Aerie #2370, and the Zoar Community Association, for which he served as a trustee and treasurer. Mr. Brown was a member of the Sarahsville Methodist Episcopal Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Muriel Jean Harper, Mary Jane Cox, and Martha Joan Mellon; one brother, Ronald Duane Brown; and one godson, Lee Stottsberry.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Jo Louise McWilliams Brown; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companions, William and Mary.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 2, 2015, from 5PM-8PM and Thursday, December 3rd from 12PM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a masonic service will be observed Wednesday evening at 7:30PM. The funeral service will be observed Thursday, December 3rd at 1PM with Ken Perkins and Rick Zerger officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Village View Cemetery in Sarahsville conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
