Obituary for Robert Leland Sayre
Robert Leland Sayre, age 82, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at his home near Sharon. He was born May 31, 1929, in Caldwell, son of the late Robert J. and Eleanor M. Parrish Sayre. He was a 1947 graduate of Caldwell High School. Robert retired from Central Ohio Coal Company after many years of running heavy equipment. After his retirement, many people would see him still working with tractors, dozers, backhoes, or whatever he could find to tinker with. He enjoyed fishing and traveling through all states in the United States, Mexico, Nova Scotia, and the Panama Canal Zone. Robert attended the Sharon Presbyterian Church, and was a member of Sharon Lodge #136, F&AM, Kambri Shrine Club, Valley of Cambridge Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, and Shriners International.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna J. McDonald Sayre, whom he married June 26, 1947, and who died January 25, 2006; one son, Joseph O\'Neal Sayre; one grandson, Randy L. Sayre; one sister, Sandra Parmiter; and one step-brother, Ronald Smith.
He will be missed by his seven children, Robert L. \"Skeet\" (Carolyn) Sayre, Jr., Michael A. (Kathy) Sayre, Carla J. (Kenneth) Clinger, Catherine J. (Tim) Bond, Steven C. Sayre, James R. (Nancy) Sayre, and Donna E. (Jeff) Keith; 15 grandchildren, Robert L. \"Scoot\" Sayre, Jodi L. (Keith) Dunlap, Michael A. (Melinda) Sayre, Jr., William O. (Kathy) Sayre, Benjamin O. (Nicole) Bond, Kaci A. (Derek) Winland, Treavor L. Bond, Joseph W. (Allison) Sayre, Danielle E. (Greg) Erb, Heather R. (Jeremy) Hesson, Dylan T. Sayre, Cody J. Sayre, Jami L. Keith, Samantha J. Keith (Bub Mercer), and Traci J. (Rob) Bettinger,; step-grandchildren, Amber and Steven Pfalzgraf, and Daniel, Thomas, and Keri Caldwell; 13 great-grandchildren, Blane A. and Kadin C. Dunlap, Michael A. Rohrbaugh, Madison E. and Marshal A. Sayre, Khloee A. and Karlee E. Winland, Trinity E. Bond, Ava G. Sayre, Brayden H. and Sydney N. Erb, Grady R. Hesson, and Tyeson Mercer; one great-great-grandchild, Marcus A. Rohrbaugh; one sister, Betty Merry; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Friends may call Wednesday, October 26, 2011, from 3-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Thursday, October 27th at 1PM. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery.
