Obituary for Ruth L. Armstrong
Ruth L. Armstrong, age 77, of Dexter City, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She was born July 17, 1932, in Noble County, daughter of the late Harry and Ruby Gates Clark. She was a 1952 graduate of the former Dexter City High School, and she attended business college in Columbus for one year. Ruth was a member of the American Legion Auxillary in Dexter City, and she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and playing cards with her family. She was a beloved homemaker, wife, and mother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Amos E. Armstrong, I, whom she married September 12, 1954, and who died November 26, 1986; three daughters, Joyce Diane Armstrong in 1986, Cathy Lynn Armstrong in 1965, and Tammy Ruth Armstrong in 1966; one brother, Nelson R. Clark in 1975; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Armstrong in 1986. Surviving are three daughters, Ruby Katherine (Joseph) Coates of Summerfield, Becky S. Armstrong of Dexter City, and Ruthie A. Armstrong-Parcell of Caldwell; two sons, Amos E. Armstrong, II, and Ronald D. Armstrong, both of Dexter City; one sister, Nellie (Okey) Welling of Waverly, West Virginia; three brothers, Harry (Medori) Clark of Little Hocking, Alva (Sally) Clark of Dexter City, and Gerald Clark of Macksburg; one grandson, Bobby E. Parcell of Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday, October 23, 2009, from 2-4 and6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, October 24th at 11AM with Pastor Bill Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery near Caldwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724, to assist with funeral expenses.
