Obituary for Velda Ruth Golay
Velda Ruth Golay, age 49, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus. She was born December 12, 1959, in Hominy, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Maudie Leigh Lott Golay, who died in 2001, and the late Morris W. ?Swede? Golay, who died in 1996. She was a 1978 graduate of Shenandoah High School, and she was a state tested nursing assistant, having worked for Bell Nursing Home and Interim Home Health. She was a member of Caldwell Eagles #2952, and she enjoyed horseback riding. She loved her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Sue Golay Wilson Shuck, who died in 1999. Surviving are two daughters, Joy L. Bales (Tim Coprowski) of McConnellsville and Amber Tipton (Nate Whitsell) of Cambridge; three sons, Thomas Kirk Hickman, II (Regina Wylie) of Caldwell, James (Donna) Tipton, II and Lance Cpl. Seth Tipton, both of Cambridge; the fathers of her children, James Tipton of Cambridge and Tom Hickman of Caldwell; one sister, Leslie Golay (David Everly) of Sarahsville; one brother, Gary (Tonya) Golay of Columbus; five grandchildren, Chloe Mielcarek, Madison Leigh Hickman, Konner Whitsell, and Abigail and Gabriella Huffman; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Friends may call Friday, May 29, 2009, from 4-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 7PM with Pastor Nate Gibbons officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 263, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724, to help offset funeral expenses.
