Obituary for Gertrude C. Ziemann
Gertrude C. Ziemann, age 98, of Caldwell, Ohio, formerly of Akron, died Monday, February 26, 2007, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. She was born June 27, 1908, in Dietzhausen, Germany, daughter of the late Adolph and Elsie Karstat Goebel. As a young woman, she worked as a housekeeper and cook, and was later employed by Rudy's Bakery on South Main Street in Akron. She retired from the McKesson and Robbins Pharmaceutical Company of Akron. She was a member of the German American Club and the Liedertaffel Singing Society of Akron. Surviving are one son, Werner O. E. (Becky) Ziemann of Caldwell; three grandchildren, Laura (Wesley) Caldwell of Canton, Cheryl Ziemann of Canton, and Eric Hammonds or Florida; and one great-grandson, Cameron Caldwell of Canton. A memorial service will be held at Hummell Funeral Home, 500 East Exchange Street in Akron at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Akron. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.
