Obituary for Mary Ellen King
Mary Ellen King, age 77, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, July 22, 2019, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born November 19, 1941, in Caldwell, daughter of the late Raymond W. and Helen L. Shafer Dennis. She was a 1959 graduate of Belle Valley High School, and during her years as a student, she worked at the former Parkside Drive-In. She owned and operated King Quarries for many years. Mary was a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, reading, and being outdoors, especially mowing and caring for her yard. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Lee King, whom she married September 25, 1959, and who died January 21, 2000; and one brother, Raymond W. Dennis, Jr., who died May 26, 2005.
Surviving are her children, Jeffrey A. King, David L. (Doris) King, Jr., Richard L. King, and Randy R. (Christa) King, all of Caldwell; her grandchildren, Clinton King, Grant King, Adam King, Olivia King, and Lucas King; one great-granddaughter, Arya Grace King; her siblings, James H. (Judy) Dennis and Grace L. (Mike) Higgins, all of Caldwell; her sister-in-law, Barbara Priest of Caldwell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Thursday, July 25, 2019, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, July 26th at 1PM with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell Church of Christ, 104 Cumberland Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
