Obituary for Alexander M. Flach
Alexander M. Flach, age 75, of Cumberland, Ohio, formerly of Cleveland, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born September 19, 1943, in the Czech Republic, son of the late Tatjana Oschinski. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Berlin Crisis of 1961 and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired as an industrial sales representative for Murdock Industries in Akron. Alex was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and was a life member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721, where he also served as a trustee. He enjoyed working as a volunteer at The Wilds, and he loved golfing and deer hunting. Alex was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who was devoted to his family.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Gloria Adams.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Macenko Flach, whom he married October 22, 1966; his children, John M. (Angie) Flach and Jeffrey M. Flach (Alyssa Gevaras), all of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Jessica (Kenton) Glover and Jeffrey A. Flach (fiancé, Marisa Naomi), all of Cleveland; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Huxley Glover; one niece, Erin (Dr. Jesse) Hanly Ewald; one nephew, Brian Hanly (Kristie Bridgeman); one great-niece, Amelia Ewald; two great-nephews, Laine and Declan Ewald; and a sister-in-law, Pat (Paul) Hanly of Westerville.

Friends may call Friday, May 24, 2019, from 5-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a Christian vigil service will follow visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 11AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. A veteran’s service will be conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations. Inurnment will take place at a later time. Alex gave the gift of life by being an organ donor. The family requests donations in his memory be given to Lifeline of Ohio at, or to 770 Kinnear Rd. Attn: Contributions, Columbus, Ohio, 43212.
