Lela Mae Davis, age 90, of Caldwell, Ohio, went to be with her Lord Saturday morning, July 27, 2024, at her home near Ava. She was born February 3, 1934, in Kennonsburg, daughter of the late Leone and Emma Bundy Warehime. Lela was a 1951 graduate of Sarahsville High School. She was a strong Christian woman of faith, living out His will for her life to the very end. Lela was an active member of the Ava United Methodist Church for 64 years. She taught the adult Sunday School class and was a member of the WSCS and the WCTU. She retired from Noble Local Schools in 1996 as head cook. She loved to cook, bake, and always wanted to share her favorites with others.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wm. Obert Davis, whom she married January 22, 1954, and who passed away April 25, 1985; and one sister, Nellie Warehime Poulton.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark (Carla) Davis of the home; her daughter, Connie (Bob) Bond of Caldwell; two granddaughters, Lindsay (Darren) Smith and Kelsey (Josh) Sutherland; three great-grandchildren, Crew and Bryn Sutherland and Adelynn Smith, all whom she loved to visit and whom she adored; a nephew, David Poulton and great-nephew, Stephon Poulton; and a special lifelong family friend, Evelyn Rayner of Ava.
Friends may call Monday, July 29, 2024, from 3-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, and Tuesday, July 30th from 10-11AM at the Ava United Methodist Church, where the funeral service will follow visitation Tuesday at 11 AM with Pastor Tom Matus and Pastor George Clark officiating.
