Obituary for Lura Faye Rogers
Lura Faye Rogers, age 80, of Dresden, Ohio, died Sunday, August 20, 2017, at Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care in Zanesville. She was born June 9, 1937, in Caldwell, daughter of the late Harley J. and Leoba Ann Hill Estadt. She was a 1955 graduate of Caldwell High School and she graduated as a registered nurse from the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was employed as a nurse by Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. Lura was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Dresden. Her faith was deeply important to her as she sought knowledge and wisdom, and was known for being a spiritual woman. She loved watching PBS stations on television.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Cunningham, who died in 1964 in the line of duty with the United States Air Force; three sisters, Marjorie Estadt, Twila Finlaw, and Martha Eppley; and one brother, Larry Estadt.
Surviving are three children, Christine Elaine (David) Neely of Gig Harbor, Washington, K. Allen Rogers of Stow, Massachusetts, and Clinton B. Rogers of San Francisco, California; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her former husband, Robert I. Rogers of Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.
A private inurnment service will be observed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.
