Obituary for Jeffrey Wayne Stout
Jeffrey Wayne Stout, age 62, recently of Sycamore, Ohio, passed into eternal life on Friday, March 27, 2020, and now rests in the arms of his loving and merciful Heavenly Father. He was a 1976 graduate of Anderson High School in Cincinnati and went on to earn four degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Ohio University, a Doctor of Arts in History from Illinois State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from Ohio University. Furthering the mission of small Christian colleges was his calling, and during his career he passionately taught history and served in a variety of administrative positions at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky; served as Academic Dean and taught at Minnesota Bible College in Rochester, Minnesota; was Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and taught at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida; was Provost at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina; and taught history at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana.

He was the first baby to be born in 1958 in Marietta, Ohio, to Edwin Wayne (Jan) Stout, currently of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the late Meda Jane Stout. He is survived by his family: his sons, Jair Conan Stout and Ian Wayne Stout, and his wife of 25 years, Marcia Ann Stout of New Washington, Ohio; his brothers, Greg (Laurie) Stout of Winchester, Ohio, and Mark (Kim) Stout of Cherryville, North Carolina; his beloved aunt and uncle, Willyann and George Thielhorn of Burke, Virginia, and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, students, and friends. He loved to teach adult Sunday School, fish, and watch old movies. He enjoyed singing, especially old gospel songs, and was an avid collector of books and ancient coins. His heroes were Teddy Roosevelt, Mortimer J. Adler, and John Wayne. His quick wit, robust laugh, and intense blue eyes will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him most.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 10AM-11AM at the First Church of Christ, 601 North Street, Caldwell, Ohio, where a memorial service will follow visitation at 11AM with Rev. Dr. E. Wayne Stout and Pastor Bill Pickenpaugh officiating. Inurnment will follow at Hoskinsville Cemetery near Caldwell. A luncheon will be prepared in the social hall of the church for the family to fellowship with guests and share a meal.
