Obituary for James E. "Cowboy" Hester
James E. “Cowboy” Hester, age 64, of Zanesville, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. He was born December 10, 1955, in Zanesville, son of the late Harry N. Hester and Betty Imogene Nickell Hester Roberts. He was a 1973 graduate of Shenandoah High School and he was a United States Navy veteran. Jim was an ordained independent Christian minister and was associated with Christian Global Outreach Ministries. He enjoyed reading, especially his Bible. He also enjoyed watching movies, singing karaoke, playing guitar, traveling, and shooting pool.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn S. Hester; an infant son, Matthias James Kane; a sister, Terry L. McHenry; his step-father, Clarence “Wimpy” Roberts; and a brother-in-law, Brian F. Beebe.
Surviving are his children, James Edgar (Margaret) Hester, Jr. of South Carolina and Crystal Dawn Renea Virgin of Lexington, Kentucky; his siblings, Teena M. Beebe (James Swiatek) of Vernon, New Jersey and Clarence D. “Skippy” Roberts of Lima; several grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be observed Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 3PM at Village View Cemetery in Sarahsville with Ken Perkins officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to McVay-Perkins Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses by clicking the green Donate tab in the left column.
