Obituary for Wm. Richard Flood
Richard Flood, age 92, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, December 16, 2019, at his home. He was born September 23, 1927, in Batesville, son of the late John Richard and Icel Iona Carpenter Flood. He was a 1945 graduate of Batesville High School, and he attended electronics and trade school in Chicago. Richard was a United States Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, having served in Guam. He retired as an accountant supervisor for Washington Electric Cooperative for 20 years. Prior to this, he was employed by Noble County Schools to consolidate bookkeeping and develop the Noble Local School District, for which he served as clerk-treasurer of the new district for ten years. He was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Caldwell, where he served as a deacon for many years, and he was a member of the Noble County Service Club and the former Noble County Ruritan Club. Richard served as a 4-H advisor for many years in Batesville. He enjoyed HO Model Trains, stamp collecting, and flower gardening. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Alexis Flood.
Surviving are his wife, Joy M. Wells Flood, whom he married March 9, 1962, in Somerton, Ohio; his children, Kevin A. (Linda R.) Flood of Caldwell, Kelli L. (Gene R.) Mallett of New Concord, and Kurt D. (Sandy S.) Flood of Pleasant City; his grandchildren, Jacob (Alysha) Caldwell, E’lise (Josh) Nissen, Jessalin (Cliff) Maximo, Tyler (Sara) Flood, James Otto, Jenna (Justin) Hurst, Merritt Flood, Wyatt Flood, Carter Flood, and Raegan Flood; his great-grandchildren, Marlee Maximo, Jameson Caldwell, Lilee Maximo, Everett Flood, Cale Maximo, Ida Flood, Jack Nissen, Jarin Caldwell, and Casen Hurst; his church family; and many friends.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 18, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Thursday, December 19th at 11AM with Evangelist Robert Vincent and Evangelist Brent Smith officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Friends Cemetery in Quaker City conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
