Obituary for William M. Shilling
William M. Shilling, age 65, of Macksburg, Ohio, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, Ohio. He was born June 12, 1942, in Middleburg, Ohio, son of Wilma 'Kim' Hayes Gildow of Caldwell and the late Alfred Shilling. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam from 1961 to 1968. He was a retired truck driver, and he was an avid NASCAR fan, and a fan of driver Tony Stewart. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his step-mother, Katherine Shilling; his step-father, Frank Gildow; four brothers, John, Dick, Charles, and Bobby Shilling; and a sister-in-law, Donna Shilling. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patty C. Griffin Shilling, whom he married in 1979; four sons, Keith A. (Jessica) Griffin of Fulda, Cliff S. Shilling of the home, and Billy and Joey Shilling, both of Ironton; three sisters, Janet (Pat) Stover of Waterford, Janet (Norm) Ford and Mary Arlene Smith, both of Iowa; four brothers, Wayne (Martha) Shilling of Whipple, Jim (Marilyn) Gildow of Caldwell, Tom Gildow of Lancaster, and William Inks of Iowa; one step-sister, Juanita (Bob) Grosz of Warner; one sister-in-law, Dottie Shilling of Malta; two grandchildren, Amy Lynn and Cody Allen Griffin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Wednesday, April 2, 2008, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Thursday, April 3rd at 1PM with Pastor Bill Pickenpaugh officiating. A military graveside service will follow at Ogle's Ridge Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran Services Organizations.
