Obituary for William James Hayes
William J. Hayes, age 65, of Ava, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at his home. He was born January 7, 1946, in Massillon, son of the late William and Violet McCleary Hayes. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was employed at Fabri-Form, from whichhe retiredfollowing 37 years of service. Mr. Hayes was a member of the Church of Christin Christian Union in Derwent, and he was a former member of the Pentecostal Community Chapel in Cambridge. Mr. Hayes was an avid fisherman and fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Heenjoyed doing yard work, grilling, working in his garage, and drag racing, and John Deere. He lovedhis church, his church family, and visiting Amish country with his sidekick Sis. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivingare his wife, Joyce D. Hayes, whom he married August 25, 1973; four children, Valarie (Jeff) Blanchard of Cambridge, Jessica(Kenny) Workman of Belle Valley, William J. Hayes Jr. (Audra Timberman) of Byesville, and Travis A. Hayes of Ava; one sister, Susan A. (David) Batyk of Warren; seven grandchildren, Cutler and Josh Workman, Dylan, Sydney, and Ethan Blanchard, Britaniegh Blanchardand Quinton Gadd; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
Friends may call Thursday, January 20, 2011, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will he held on Friday, January 21stat 11AM with Pastor John Jividen Officiating. Burial will follow at Halleys Ridge Cemetery.
