Obituary for William I. Danford
William I. Danford, age 83, of Caldwell, died Friday, February 9, 2007, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, Ohio. He was born February 16, 1923, at Halleys Ridge, Noble County, Ohio, son of the late Elijah and Elizabeth Buckey Danford. He was a graduate of Belle Valley High School, and was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, having served in Italy. He went to CCC Camp, working in Utah and California, and he was formerly employed by RCA and retired as a plater from NCR, both in Cambridge, and he owned and operated a family farm. He was a member of the Belle Valley United Methodist Church, the Byesville VFW, and the Byesville American Legion Post. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and metal detecting. He was preceded in death by one sister, Bonnie Glidden, and one grandson, Jason Danford. Surviving are his wife, Patricia M. Heddleson Danford, whom he married January 1, 1947; his children, Robert D. (Pat) Danford of Caldwell, Brenda E. (Wayne) Milliken of Cambridge, Elizabeth J. Johnson (Dick Dieringer) of Caldwell, and Phil W.(Eva) Danford of Caldwell; two sisters, Dorothy Wells of Caldwell and Ruth Ann Brody of Canton; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Monday, February 12, 2007, from 5-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 13 at 1PM with Pastor Rob Law officiating. Burial will follow at Halleys Ridge Cemetery, Ava, with veterans graveside services conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
