William E. Jones, age 79, of SR 339 Beverly, Ohio, died Wednesday morning (4/23/2003) at Selby General Hospital in Marietta, Ohio. He was born 7/26/1923 in Weston, West Virginia, a son of the late Millard and Lizzie Butcher Jones. He was a United States Army Veteran; a retired employee of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio and a member and former President of United Rubber Workers Union Local #7. Mr. Jones was a member of the Dexter City United Methodist Church and Sharon Lodge #136 Free and Accepted Masons. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 4 brothers Robert, Junior, Eugene and Frank Jones. Surviving are his wife Alvaretta M. Poling Jones, whom he married 5/10/1973; 3 daughters Judith (Denny) Wood of Huntington, West Virginia, Sue (Tony) Sholtis of Mt. Ephraim, Ohio and Pammye (Dwayne) Carrel of Lowell, Ohio; 4 sons Thomas Jones of Akron, Ohio, William (Gyl) Poling of Sarahsville, Ohio, William (Amanda) Jones, Jr. of Summerfield, Ohio and Edwin Jones of Copley, Ohio; 1 sister Helen Boyles of Akron, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday (4/25/2003) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724 where Sharon Lodge #136 Free and Accepted Masons will conduct Masonic Services at 6:30 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (4/26/2003) at the funeral home with Pastors Jim Fernihugh and Kevin Lauer officiating. Burial will follow at Barry's Ridge Cemetery.
