William C. Nicholson, age 84, of Ava, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Altercare Summit Acres in Caldwell. He was born January 20, 1937, in Sarahsville, son of the late George Hurley and Anna Margaret Smith Nichelson. Bill was a United States Army veteran, having served from 1958-1962 in Germany and in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He retired as an equipment operator from Central Ohio Coal Company in 1998, and he was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a former trustee for Spencer Township in Guernsey County. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading western books.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Korey W. Anderson; three sisters, Twila Lavy, Helen Pauley, and Linda Masters; three brothers, Glen Nicholson, Kenneth Nicholson, and John Nicholson; and several nieces and nephews.
Surviving are his children, Brenda J. (Art) Bowman of Cumberland and Shawn W. (Sandra) Nicholson of St. Louisville; two grandchildren, Shelby K. Nicholson of Lakewood and Nathan W. Nicholson of Heath; his siblings, Beverly J. Hague of Marietta and Frankie Buckey of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no service. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.
