Obituary for William A. Coleman
William A. Coleman, age 76, of Derwent, Ohio, died Sunday, September 24, 2006, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born April 11, 1930, in Noble County, Ohio, son of the late Leslie E. and Elsie R. Bates Coleman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, and formerly served the local community as a state trooper for the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Caldwell Police Chief, and Noble County Deputy Sheriff. He retired in 1992 from the Central Ohio Coal Company. Mr. Coleman was also a Valley Township Trustee for thirteen years, and was a member of the United Mine Workers, the Buffalo VFW Post #8040, and the AMVETS Post #821 in Pleasant City. Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. Fogle Coleman, whom he married November 27, 1974; two sons, Leslie (Sara) Coleman of Columbus and Leonard (Barbara) Coleman of Gahanna; four daughters, Laura Gill of South Zanesville, Mrs. Robert (Lizabeth) Summers of Cambridge, Mrs. Larney (Melissa) Lashley of Pleasant City, and Brenda Moore of Nashport; one sister, Clarice McKee of Pleasant City; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 nieces. Friends may call Wednesday, September 27, 2006, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be Thursday, September 28 at 11AM with Pastor Roger Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted the Noble County Veterans Services Organization.
