Obituary for Wilda Ruth Spence
Wilda Ruth Spence, age 84, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born August 1, 1927, in Batesville, daughter of the late Homer and Ethel West Mummey. She was a 1945 graduate of Caldwell High School, and she retired from Cleveland Graphite Bronze, where she was employed from February 7, 1954, to July 1, 1993. She was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed taking Sunday drives, cooking, and shopping. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Fred C. Spence, who died in 1957; her former husband, Dave Spence, who died in 1999; an infant son, Daniel Lynn Spence; and one sister, Eileen Boswell. Surviving are her children, Rebecca Spence of Columbus, Fred C. Spence (Cheryl Cross) of Caldwell, Carla J. (John) Schoeppner of Caldwell, David L. Spence of Columbus, and Pam (Boyd) Leasure of Caldwell; one sister, Betty Fox of Canton; five grandchildren, Rachel, Brian, Ashley, Mallory, and Shon; and five great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Tyler, Patience, Kaden, and Kyle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Friends may call Monday, May 14, 2012, from 2-6PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, May 15th at 11AM with Pastor Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Caldwell United Methodist Church, 537 Main Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
