Obituary for Wanda A. Keeton
Wanda A. Keeton, age 96, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Caldwell, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. She was born November 10, 1917, in Noble County, daughter of the late Stanley J. and Sophia Bonk Mazgay, Sr. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and its Catholic Women’s Club, and she was a life member and last surviving charter member of the Caldwell Eagles. Mrs. Keeton was a beloved mother and homemaker. She loved cooking and baking for her family and she loved her kitties. She was also an avid OSU fan, and she enjoyed shopping, eating out, reading, and watching The Young and the Restless on television.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hilles G. Keeton, whom she married January 1, 1941, and who died February 21, 1997; one sister, Valeria Bober; three brothers, Leo J. “Lobby” Mazgay, Stanley J. “P.I.” Mazgay, and Edward W. Mazgay; and one son-in-law, John Frederick.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Frederick of Columbus and Debra (Charles) Kemmer of Westerville; two sons, Michael (Kari) Keeton of Eustis, Florida and Gary (Doris) Keeton of Harmony, Pennsylvania; a beloved niece who was like a daughter to her, Barbara Bober of Caldwell; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Sunday, January 12, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will conclude visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Monday, January 13, 2014, at 10AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. Burial will follow in Hoskinsville Cemetery.
