Obituary for Virgil Leo Saling
Virgil Leo Saling, age 82, of Caldwell, died Friday, December 10, 2004, at Ohio University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 16, 1922, in Noble County, Ohio, son of the late John A. and Sylvia M. Roehrig Saling. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army, having served in the European Theatre of Operations, and was a retired employee of Crock Construction Company in Caldwell where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Saling was a member of the St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Fulda. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Bernard F. Saling, and a nephew, Robert E. Barton. Surviving are a brother, Victor A. Saling of Caldwell; two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Leona A. 'Skip') Barton and Eleanor A. Saling, both of Caldwell; and one niece, Linda Corp of Whipple. Friends may call Sunday, December 12, 2004, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where Christian Scripture services will be held at 7:30PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 13, at 10:30AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda with Rev. Fr. Samuel Saprano as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Parish Church Cemetery. Caldwell Post #4721 VFW and Belle Valley Post #641 American Legion will conduct graveside military honors.
