Obituary for Violet M. Tomcho
Violet M. Tomcho, age 91, of Cumberland, Ohio, died Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born January 17, 1928, in Guernsey County, daughter of the late Tom Sanderson and the late Dorothy McCune. She was a 1946 graduate of Buffalo High School, and early in life, she worked as an aide at the former St. Francis Hospital in Cambridge. Along with her husband, George, she owned and operated a family farm. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pleasant City and its Ladies Aide Society, and she was a room mother at Belle Valley Grade School. Violet volunteered in the Floral Hall at the Noble County Fair for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cross stitching as well as cooking and baking. She loved to play bingo.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Tomcho, whom she married October 21, 1949, and who died October 7, 2005; and her step-father, John McCune.
Surviving are her children, Delores J. Williams of Byesville, Larry G. Tomcho (Connie Nickelson) of Cumberland, Pamela S. (Gary) Oliver of Caldwell, and Linda M. (Jeff) Osentoski of New Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, November 29, 2019, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, November 30th at 9AM with the Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris and Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hiramsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Guernsey at www.hospiceofguernsey.com or to P.O.
