Obituary for Vernon O. Dudley
Vernon O. Dudley, age 86, of Ava, Ohio died Sunday morning (9/29/2002) at his residence. He was born 1/28/1916 in Hoskinsville, Ohio a son of the late Almer & Nola Marquis Dudley. He was a retired employee of the former Gould Co, Plant at Caldwell and had been a coal mine for 15 years. He was a member of the Ava United Methodist Church in Ava, Ohio for over 50 years; was a member of Pamona Grange; the Noble County Farm Bureau; AARP and the United Steel Workers Local #4836 Retirees Club. He is preceded in death by his first wife Gladys S. Dailey Dudley; his second wife Helen Jean Feldner Dudley; 3 sisters Ruth Jenkins, Doris Bickford and Geneva Binegar; 2 brothers Rolland Dudley and Glenn Dudley. Surviving are 1 daughter Becky (James) Shaw of Byesville; 1 brother Joseph (Norma) Dudley of Hiramsburg; 1 sister Wanda (Everett) Schmidt of Marietta; 2 grandchildren Valerie (Doug) Foster and Yvonne (Shawn) Hamilton; 3 great grandchildren Kyle Foster, Laykin and Troy Hamilton. Friends may call Monday (10/1/2002) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Ava United Methodist Church with the Revs. Rob Law & Al Dudley officiating. Burial will follow at Halley's Ridge Cemetery near Ava, Ohio.
