Verna M. Stewart Brown, age 88, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Altercare Summit Acres. She was born December 18, 1934, in Monroe County, daughter of the late Otis R. and Lola Morris Martin. Verna was a 1954 graduate of Summerfield High School and she retired from Essex Wire in Zanesville following over 40 years of service. She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Caldwell. She enjoyed playing Yatzee, bingo, and putting jigsaw puzzles together with her best friend, Ruby Johnson.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Brown; one grandson, Shawn Huffman; one sister, Josephine Ayers; and one brother, Kenneth Martin.
Surviving are her children, Linda Joy (Mike) Reed, Rhonda Gay (Edwin) Tilton, and Neal Richard (Connie) Huffman, all of Caldwell; her siblings, Nancy L. (John) Perkins of Columbus, Roger L. (Linda) Martin and Jerry A. (Janet) Martin, all of Caldwell, and Terry A. (Carolyn) Martin of Florida; a sister-in-law, Judy Frommeyer of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one to be born; 11 great-great-grandchlidren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 11AM-2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Steet, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 2PM with Evangelist Brent Smith officiating.
