Obituary for Verna F. Stottsberry
Verna F. Stottsberry, age 90, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born November 30, 1927, in Nelsonville, daughter of the late Charles and Grace Bateman Bateman. She was a graduate of Apple Creek High School, and she was a homemaker. Verna was a member of the East Union United Methodist Church, a former member of the Caldwell Eagles, and a life member of the Belle Valley American Legion Auxiliary #641. She loved to play bingo and tend to her flower garden.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil R. Stottsberry, whom she married August 2, 1947, and who died September 29, 1996; two grandsons, Brian Watson and Darrell Stottsberry; two sisters, Fana Jarvis and Pauline Simpson; and three brothers, Dan Bateman, Charles Bateman, and Dale Bateman.
Surviving are her children, Darlene K. “Pickle” (Charlie) Watson of Sarahsville and Gary L. (Penny) Stottsberry of Heath; two sisters, Alice Boggs of Orrville and Vera Fitzwater of Dalton; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Sunday, September 9th at 2PM with Pastor John Boggs officiating. Burial will follow at Hoskinsville Cemetery.
