Obituary for V. Irene Dudley
V. Irene Dudley, age 85, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born June 8, 1927, in Noble County, Ohio, daughter of the late Byron and Bernice Murray Marquis. She was a 1945 graduate of Caldwell High School, where she was a member of the band, and she attended bible college in Pennsylvania. Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Caldwell Church of the Nazarene, where she served for over 20 years as president of the Nazarene Missions International Council. She was an active Boy Scout volunteer, having served as den leader for Pack #584 in Caldwell, cub master in Brewster, Ohio, and committee member and former treasurer for Buckeye Council Boy Scouts of America. She bowled for several years, and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, reading, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin R. Dudley, whom she married on August 8, 1957, and who died on October 2, 2009; and two sisters, Edna Hicks and Gertrude Miller. Surviving are three sons, John L. Dudley of Caldwell, Clayton L. Dudley of Pleasant City, and Ronald J. (Tammy) Dudley of New Concord; two sisters, Barbara (Dale) Shriver of Tuscarawas and Virginia Cramblett of Canton; a half-sister, Beverly (Harlow) Watson of Canton; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, with another to be born soon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Tuesday, November 13, 2012, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral will be observed Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 1PM, with Pastor John Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery.
