V. Hope DeLancey, age 81, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home. She was born July 13, 1942, in Roseville, daughter of the late Charles E. and Josephine Humphries Evans. Hope was employed as a cook for Marianne’s Food Station in Belle Valley and as a babysitter. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and watching Ohio State Buckeye and Dallas Cowboy football, NASCAR, and wrestling. Hope was devoted to her family and to people who didn’t have one.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph W. DeLancey, whom she married December 15, 1963; her children, Ralph L. “Junior” (Angie) DeLancey of Summerfield and Dwayne S. (Beth) DeLancey and Louida I. (John) Brown, all of Caldwell; 10 grandchildren, Steve DeLancey, Alyssa Burrell, Joey Burrell, Alizabeth Burrell, Chaise DeLancey, Abigail DeLancey, Harlen Holloway, Stevie Holloway, Wendi Brown, and Jessa Brown; 9 great-grandchildren, Keyaira DeLancey, Bella Cobb, Emily Kissinger, Dalton Kissinger, Skilar DeLancey, Paizleigh DeLancey, Lillianna Burrell, Jackson Burrell, and Evelynn Titus; her siblings, Josephine Erwin of Muskingum County, Bonnie Watkins of Zanesville, Margaret Roberts of Ava, Annie Evans of Duncan Falls; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved Chihauhau, Skeeter.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Wednesday at 11AM with Pastor Stephen Hannum officiating. Burial will follow at Ark Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Belle Valley Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 16, Belle Valley, Ohio, 43717.
