Thelma Marie Kinnen, age 93, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born May 29, 1923, near Fulda, daughter of the late Clarence and Clara Miller Schott, and she was a 1940 graduate of Caldwell High School. Thelma was employed by Jonard’s Dry Cleaning, and was affectionately known as the town seamstress for many years. She operated an alterations business from her home, and she especially loved working on band uniforms for the schools and making clothes for her children. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell. Thelma enjoyed crocheting and cooking, and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert George Kinnen, whom she married in 1949 and who died in 1993; and one daughter, Diana Lynn Leopold.
Surviving are two sons, Dale E. (Stephanie) Kinnen of Hudson and Dennis L. (Cindy) Kinnen of Cumberland; five grandchildren, David (Julie) Kinnen, Danielle Gray, Kelly (Jennifer) Kinnen, Shelly Picciano, and Melissa Kinnen; and four great-grandchildren, Rachel, Gabriel, and Noelle Kinnen and Elijah Fanck.
Friends may call Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will conclude visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Friday, February 17th at 10AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery.
