Obituary for Steven Michael King
Steven Michael King, age 18, of Caldwell, died Friday, July 29, 2005, in Bladen County, North Carolina, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born November 11, 1986, in Cambridge, Ohio, son of Roy L. and Naomi R. Downey King of Caldwell. He was a 2005 graduate of Shenandoah High School, where he was a member of the marching band, jazz band, and pep band and participated in Solo and Ensemble; was a member of the Spanish Club, Drama Club, and the National Honor Society; and participated in cross country, track, and basketball. He was a member of the Noble County Knights Soccer Team, and participated in Ohio Model United Nations and CATS of the Noble County Health Department. He had planned to attend Washington State Community College in the fall of 2005, and attended Center Free Methodist Church, Caldwell United Methodist Church, and Faith Baptist Church, and was a member of the Ohio Valley Emmaus/Chrysalis Community. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Marylyn R. Downey in 1998; and a cousin, Joseph Q. King in 2004. Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Jessica Grace King of the home; three uncles, Eldon P. King of Caldwell, Joseph Z. King of Sarahsville, and Douglas A. Downey of North Carolina; one aunt, Bonnie M. Cooper of Sarahsville; paternal grandparents, Paul and Rosa King of Caldwell; maternal grandparents, Chiton and Christine Downey of Louisiana; paternal great-grandmother, Rosa Clark of Caldwell; and numerous cousins. Friends may call Wednesday, August 3, 2005, from 2-9PM with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will be Thursday at 11AM with Pastor Jimmy Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Center Free Methodist Church Cemetery, Sarahsville.
