Obituary for Simone C. Canu
Simone C. Canu, age 94, formerly of New York City and a resident of Noble County, Ohio, since 1965, died Monday, August 7, 2017, at her home. She was born February 5, 1923, in Paris, France, daughter of the late Andre and Gabrielle Dumiot Bureau. She was employed by the Berlitz School of Language, and she was employed as a hostess for Schraff’s Restaurant and Stouffer’s Restaurant, all of New York City. Simone loved to read and watch television.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Samuel “Sam” Womack; one grandson, Sammy Womack; and two brothers, Andre and Gilbert Bureau.
Surviving are her husband, Albert N. Canu; four grandchildren, Noelle Morgan, Joseph Womack, James Womack, and Serena Thomas; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one cousin; and one great-cousin in France.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 9, 2017, from 4-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will be observed at 6:30PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Thursday, August 10th at 10:00AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Fr. Chester Pabin as celebrant. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Sarahsville.
