Obituary for Sarah S. Hurst
Sarah S. Hurst, age 87, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Saturday evening (11/23/2002) at Hospice of Genesis in Zanesville, Ohio. She was born 7/24/1915 near Ava, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles Homer and Inez Stevens Rayner. She was a homemaker, and had, along with her late husband, operated a family farm for many years. She was a member of the Belle Valley United Methodist Church and the Belle Valley Homemakers. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her step-mother Etta Rayner; her husband Albert Urbane Hurst who died 12/7/1994; an infant son and daughter; 1 granddaughter Marsha Hurst; 1 great-grandson Brandon Sholtis and 2 brothers Martin Luther 'Boots' Rayner and Hansome Rayner. Surviving are 1 daughter Norma Jean 'Joe' Dudley of Cumberland, Ohio; 2 sons George W. (Dorothy) Hurst and Herb L. (Lois Ann) Hurst of Belle Valley, Ohio; 2 brothers John D. (Betty) Rayner and James R. (Evelyn) Rayner of Cumberland, Ohio; 1 sister Beulah F. Rossiter Anderson of Caldwell, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday (11/25/2002) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724, where services will be held on Tuesday (11/26/2002) at 1:00 PM with Revs. Loran Dace and Robert Law officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, Ohio.
