Obituary for Ruth E. Gray Glidden
Ruth E. Gray Glidden, age 76, of Caldwell, died Tuesday morning (12/24/2002) at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born 11/20/1926 in Berlin Center, Ohio, a daughter of the late John Deo & Bessie Catherine Ritchey Chellis. She had worked for 25 years as a home economics instructor for the Mideast Ohio Vocational School in Zanesville; had made Victorian Style Ornamnets which she sold at craft shows for 12 years and was a former monument counselor for Cambridge Monuments. Ruth was an avid quilter and seamstress. She was a member of First Church of Christ in Caldwell, the Caldwell Garden Club, the Caldwell Quilt Guild and the HTH Bridge Club. She had served as a former president and member of the Caldwell Board of Education. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Glidden, Sr. who died 6/12/1998. Surviving are 2 daughters Sally (Gary) Hittle of Zanesville and Cathie (Pat) McMillin of Malta, a son Jody (Melody) Gray of Macksburg; 2 brothers Ken of Coleville, Washington and Terry Chellis of Wooster; 5 grandchildren Kevin (Tasha) & Kelly (Melanie) Riggle, Ben, Matt & Brittany Gray; 3 great grandchildren Madison, Clayton & Wyatt Riggle; 1 niece and 1 nephew. Friends may call Thursday (12/26/2002) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell, Ohio, where services will be held on Friday (12/27/2002) at 1:00 PM with Pastor Loran Dace officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, Ohio. The family requests that memorials be made to First Church of Christ, 601 North Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724, The American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation.
