Obituary for Ruth A. Gordon Fogle
Ruth A. Gordon Fogle, age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, August 12, 2017, at her home, She was born November 11, 1929, at Barnes Ridge, Marion Township, Noble County, daughter of the late Fred and Clara King Gordon. She was a graduate of Summerfield High School. Ruth was employed by Brady’s Radio Shop, Shafer’s Restaurant, and Don Reed Insurance. She was also employed by General Telephone in Cambridge, Caldwell, and New Philadelphia from 1955 until her retirement on October 15, 1983. She was a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ, and she was a former member and secretary/treasurer for the Noble County Fair Board. Ruth loved tending flowers, gardening, quilting, and playing euchre. Along with her husband, Charles, she enjoyed square dancing and spending time with their many friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Fogle, whom she married October 27, 1948, and who died April 10, 2011; one daughter, Charlotte Larrick, who died in 2000; five sisters, Lucy Bates, Marcella Parsons, Wilda Hughes, Thelma Lee, and Sula Johnson; an infant sister, Catherine Gordon; and two brothers, Carroll Gordon and Floyd “Buster” Gordon.
Surviving are one son, Leon (Joyce) Fogle of Coshocton; one sister, Susie Kelcey of Ft. Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Armstrong, Michael Long, and Brook Husky; one great-grandson, Alex Long; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Fogle of Caldwell and Helen Fogle of Salesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday, August 15, 2017, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Wednesday, August 16th at 11AM with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell Church of Christ, 104 Cumberland Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
