Obituary for Roxie E. Clark Cantwell Starling
Roxie E. Clark Cantwell Starling, age 77, of Canton, Ohio, formerly of Marietta, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at her home. With heavy hearts and great sadness, her family announces her passing from her earthly home to her home in heaven. She was born March 26, 1944, in Marietta, daughter of the late James and Ruth Greathouse Clark. Roxie liked to travel and see new places, and she especially enjoyed going to the Mountaineer Casino and playing the slot machines. She enjoyed watching birds, hummingbirds being her favorite. Roxie loved caring for her fur babies and had many dogs over the years. She spent her Sundays watching Christian services on TV. Roxie was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was an awesome person who was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them.
In March,1960, she married Clifford D. Cantwell, Sr., who preceded her in death in September, 1989. She married her second husband, Dwight Bob Starling in July, 2004, and he preceded her in death in July, 2012. In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by 3 sisters, Margorie Dillon, Judith Farnsworth, and Shirley Rumbold Elliott; 5 brothers, Robert, Ronald, Gary, Timothy, and Kenneth Clark; her father and mother-in-law, Joe and Bessie Cantwell; a sister-in-law, Anna Mae (Howdy) Haga; and a brother-in-law, Donald Cantwell.
Her family will always cherish her memory. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara (James) Dawson; two sons, Clifford D. (Sharon) Cantwell, Jr. and James O. (Theresa) Cantwell; 5 grandchildren, Tonya Dawson (Salladen Hall), Traci Cantwell, Clifford D. Cantwell, III, James O. (Sara) Cantwell, Jr., and Lisa (Greg) Gogol; 9 great-grandchildren, Camri, Clifford D., IV, Cayden, Armando, Tatiana, Reina, Antonio, Romeo, and Stanley; 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger Clark; 3 sisters, Mildred Ellis, Betty Hersman, and Janet Barton; 2 sisters-in-law, Toni Smith and Donna Cantwell; 3 brothers-in-law, Butch (Michelle) Cantwell, Rich (Linda) Cantwell, and Kester (Mary) Cantwell; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday, January 9, 2021, from 10AM-12PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 12PM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Lund Cemetery. The family would like to offer special thanks to Aunt Toni Smith.
