Obituary for Roscoe L. 'Tuffy' Tilton
Roscoe L. ”Tuffy” Tilton, age 83, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, November 9, 2012, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. He was born July 28, 1929, in Noble County, Ohio, son of the late Alden D. and Clara Poling Tilton. He was a 1948 graduate of Caldwell High School, where he was a football standout and was inducted into the Caldwell Football Hall of Fame. He attended Marietta College, and he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean War. He worked on electrical line construction, and he retired from the former Glacier Vandervell in Caldwell. Mr. Tilton was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Caldwell, and he enjoyed bowling, playing in leagues for several years. He loved football, and he was an avid supporter of the Caldwell High School football team. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Louella L. Sorg Tilton, whom he married February 2, 1964, and who died June 10, 2010; two sisters, Betty Smith and Bonnie Thompson; and four brothers, Gene, Frank, Richard, and Albert Tilton. Surviving are two daughters, Wanda S. (Brent) Bates of Sarahsville, and Carol A. Tilton (Roger Lincicome) of Cambridge; one son, Edwin L. (Rhonda G.) Tilton of Pleasant City; one sister, Katie (James) Schillings of Pickerington; a special friend, Thelma Freely of Perrysburg;13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends may call Monday, November 12, 2012, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Tuesday, November 13th at 11AM with Evangelist Craig Matheney officiating. A military graveside service will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell, conducted by the the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
