Obituary for Roger D. Smith
Roger D. Smith, age 48, of Caldwell, died Monday, April 19, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, OH. He was born Sept. 19, 1955, in Marietta, Ohio, son of Dewey D. Smith of Caldwell, and the late Mary Maxine Wilson Smith, who died March 4, 1995. Roger was a 1973 graduate of Caldwell High School, and was previously employed by the former Jim Landaker Bakery and Farmers and Merchants Bank in Caldwell. He was currently serving as the Noble County Clerk of Courts, having first been elected in 1984. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, the Noble County Farm Bureau, the Ohio Clerk of Courts Assn., and the Noble County Republican Party. He is survived by his step-mother, Pat Smith; a brother, Bruce (Kathy) Smith of Canton; a sister, Mrs. Danny (Marsha) Allbritain of Sarahsville; special nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Brian Smith of Canton and Kelly Smith of Clemson, South Carolina; Nathan Allbritain of Lima, Ohio; Alicia Allbritain of Marietta; and Nolan Allbritain of Sarahsville; one special great-aunt, Edna Davis of Caldwell; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a legion of dear friends. Calling hours willl be Wednesday evening from 7-9PM and Thursday from 2-9PM. The funeral service will be Friday at 11AM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will be at Olive Cememtery, Caldwell. Memorials may be made to the Belle Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Summerfield Fire Dept.
