Obituary for Roger D. Roberts
Roger D. Roberts, age 59, of Ava, Ohio, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville, Ohio. He was born February 19, 1949, in Coal Ridge, Ohio, son of Perry Leondis and Clara Hickman Roberts. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Alaska during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a machine operator for the former Dana Corporation Plant in Caldwell. He was a member of the Ava Free Methodist Church, and he processed, bought, and sold fur for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Mae Fisk; and two brothers, Charles Leondis Roberts and Clarence Dean 'Wimpy' Roberts. Surviving are one daughter, Michele (J.D.) Harper of Caldwell; one son, Brock Roberts (fiance Sandy K. Fogle) of Caldwell; three sisters, Mary Ann (Charlie) Brown of Sarahsville, Irene (Ralph) Cobb of Caldwell, and Edna (Bob) Duke of Windsor; two brothers, Carl Stewart Roberts of Coal Ridge and Terry 'Nick' Roberts (fiance Linda Trenner) of Caldwell; three grandchilden, Katrina L. Harper, Tyler James Harper, and Kristen Kayleen Fogle, all of Caldwell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Thursday, May 8th at 1PM with Pastor Loran Dace officiating.
