Obituary for Robert James "Rob" Thomas, Jr.
Robert James “Rob” Thomas, Jr., age 52, of Albany, Ohio, died Sunday, October 15, 2017, at his home. He was born May 26, 1965, in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of Jeannine M. Lombardi Thomas of Bellaire and the late Robert James Thomas, Sr. He was a 1983 graduate of St. John Central High School in Bellaire. In 1987 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, and in 1993 he earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering, both from Ohio University in Athens. Rob was employed as a program engineer for Avionics Engineering Center at Ohio University. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Athens, and he loved to fly drones, photography, and gardening.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one sister, Suzette Thomas.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Elizabeth Law Thomas, whom he married March 12, 1988; his children, Rachel Elizabeth Thomas, Christian Alan Thomas, Isabel Clare Thomas, and John Paul Thomas, all of the home; one sister, Gina M. (Anthony) Iosue of Bainbridge; one brother, Matthew A. Thomas of Nashville, Tennessee; his mother and father-in-law, Myron and Cynthia Law of Senecaville; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 17, 2017, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will conclude visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Wednesday, October 18th at 11AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda with Rev. Fr. Tim Davison as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.
