Obituary for Robert E. Walker
Robert E. Walker, age 68, of Columbus, formerly of Summerfield, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born December 19, 1940, in Cleveland, son of the late Charles Edward Walker and the late Irene Russell Walker Auten. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and he graduated from Carnegie Tech with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He also received a master of fine arts in technical theatre from Yale University, and a master of science in electrical engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University. Mr. Walker was employed as a research and development engineer for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, and as an engineering tech teacher at Belmont Tech in St. Clairsville. Following retirement, he worked as a self-employed electrician in southeast Ohio. He founded The Book Club at the Barnesville Public Library. He enjoyed tinkering, baking, and he was a rabid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Diane B. Walker, who died in 1993. Surviving are two sons, Gregory T. Walker (Jonas Klimavicius) of New York, New York and Timothy M. Walker of Columbus; his significant other, Maggie Gregory of Boston, Massachussetts; one grandson, Maxwell T. Walker of Columbus; one brother, Russell C. (Susan K.) Walker of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; one niece, Dana E. Walker of Greensburg; one nephew, Robert S. Walker of Greensburg; and one grand-niece, Mikaila E. Walker of Greensburg. Friends may call Sunday, May 31, 2009, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held Monday, June 1st at 1PM with Rev.
