Obituary for Robert E. Boyd, Sr.
Robert E. Boyd, Sr., age 71, of Beverly, Ohio, died Monday, February 5, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born July 2, 1935, in Renrock, Ohio, son of the late Hurlbert W. and Mary D. Stewart Boyd. He was a 1953 graduate of Forest Grove High School, and was employed during his high school years by the former McKee's Wayne Feed Store in Caldwell. He was a U.S. army veteran, having served in Germany, and he was formerly employed by Wholesome Bread Company, where he had a bread route. He was retired from the Globe-Interlake Steel Company in Beverly, and he worked for Singer Sunoco in Caldwell for ten years. He owned and operated a family farm as well as helped his parents on their farm. He was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church, Dexter City. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Lawrence Boyd, who died in 1977; and two brothers, Lawrence and Eldon Boyd. Surviving are his wife, Bernice E. Head Boyd, whom he married December 9, 1962; three sons, Robert Earl (Debby) Boyd, Jr. of Marietta, Steven Ray (Krystal) Boyd of Augusta, Georgia, and Terry L. Boyd (Megan Carver) of Dexter City; two sisters, Carol (Bill) Ray of Bethesda and Karen (Fred) Wickham of Cumberland; two brothers, Albert (Kathryn) Boyd of Dexter City and Delmer (Carol) Boyd of McConnellsville; two aunts, Gladys DeVolld of Caldwell and Marie Boyd of New Concord; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Friday, February 9, 2007, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 10 at 11AM at New Harmony Baptist Church, Dexter City, with Pastors Dave Denny, David Owens, and Bill Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
