Robert E. “Bob” Crum, age 82, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, June 15, 2023, at his home. He was born September 29, 1940, in Marietta, son of the late Dale Ellsworth and Ruth Catherine Smith Crum. Bob was a 1958 graduate of Marietta High School and a United States Army veteran, having served in Korea. He retired in 2004 as a superintendent for Knox Energy. Bob was a faithful member of Dudley Community Church and was an active member of the Marietta Camp of Gideons International. He helped the Lions Club with their ice cream sales, running the hit and miss engine, and he serviced oil and gas leases. Bob loved gardening. He was a humble man who helped anyone who needed it and he was devoted to his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, James Crum.
Surviving are his wife, Evangeline Mary Crum, whom he married September 21, 1964; his children, Sherman E. (Kimberly) Crum of Caldwell, Timothy E. (Tatisha) Crum of Republic, Missouri, Joel R. (Jessica) Crum of Caldwell, Aaron M. (Beth) Crum of Caldwell, and Elizabeth R. Crum of Caldwell; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; his siblings, Lloyd E. (Rita) Crum of Marietta and Roger E. (Jamie) Crum of Racine; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful friend, his black lab, Abby.
Friends may call Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Sunday, June 18th at 2PM. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Olive Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International at www.gideons.org The family would like to offer special thanks to the caregivers at Amedisys Hospice and DaVita Kidney Care.
