Obituary for Robert A. "Horsey" Davis
Robert A. “Horsey” Davis, Sr., age 63, of Caldwell, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born February 28, 1953, in Canton, son of the late Ogle J. “Horsey” and Cuba A. Anderson Davis. He was a graduate of Caldwell High School, where he was a member of the football team. He worked in oil fields most of his life, and he was employed by the former Ball’s Market and the Ava Brickyard as a young man. He attended Ragan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Hoskinsville, and he was a former member of the Sons of the American Legion in Belle Valley. Horsey enjoyed playing bingo, camping, and dirt track racing, and he was an avid fan of the Caldwell Redskins football team. He also loved dogs, especially dachshunds.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Hickman; one brother, Jack Davis; and infant twin siblings.
Surviving are his children, Robert A. Davis, Jr., of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Brian L. Davis and Brad W. (Carrie) Davis, both of Caldwell; his companion of twelve years, Ruth Black; his siblings, Sandra Kaisor of California, Cathy (Randy) Swiger and Tom Davis, both of Jefferson, Madge Caldwell of Bellefontaine, and Janice Oney of California; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Sunday, October 9, 2016, from 2PM-5PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 5PM with Pastor John Powell officiating. Inurnment will take place at Barry’s Ridge Cemetery at a later time.
