Rita Mae Wheeler, age 94, of Ava, Ohio, died Friday, September 7, 2012, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born June 23, 1918, in Reinersville, Morgan County, Ohio, daughter of the late Pearley and Emma Spears Sealock. She was a homemaker, and a devoted wife and mother. In her younger years, Rita attended Regan's Chapel United Methodist Church in Hoskinsville, and later the Hiramsburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, mowing her yard, and collecting cookie jars and trinkets. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Wheeler, whom she married March 1, 1937, and who died June 17, 2009; one son, Raymond Wheeler, who died in 2008; an infant daughter, Helen Mae Wheeler; one grandson, Tim W. Wheeler, who died in 2009; three sisters, Clara Belle Pickenpaugh, Helen Maude Hill and Thelma Louise Parks; and three brothers, Doyle Dana Sealock, Bernard William Sealock and Denzil Eugene Sealock. Surviving are one daughter, Doris J. Feldner of Byesville; two sons, Robert W. (Twila) Wheeler of Cambridge and Larry D. (Cindy) Wheeler of Cambridge; one daughter-in-law, Mary Wheeler of Belle Valley; one brother, Ewell Gene Sealock of Bellville; one sister, Anna Grace Rollison of Zanesville; one half-sister, Mary Elizabeth (Dave) Merry of Caldwell; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 5-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, September 10, 2012, at 11AM with Pastor Greg Kastler officiating. Burial will follow in Halley’s Ridge Cemetery near Ava. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
