Obituary for Rhoda D. Carpenter
Rhoda D. Carpenter, age 47, of Lewisville, Ohio, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 15, 1960, in Cambridge, Ohio, daughter of the late Cletis and Margaret Carpenter Delong. She was a 1978 graduate of Shenandoah High School, where she was a member of the Zeps Marching Band and the drama club. She also graduated as a licensed practical nurse from Belmont Technical College, and she received her registered nurse degree from Regents University in New York. She had been employed as an RN by SEORMC in Cambridge, Marietta Memorial Hospital, and she worked in various programs at the Noble County Health Department, with the most recent being case manager for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and a former board member for the Appalachian Quarter Horse Association. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Sam Delong; and one nephew, Jamey Hall. Surviving are her husband, Mark Carpenter, whom she married October 10, 1987; one son, Damen Carpenter and one daughter, Alex Carpenter, both of the home; two sisters, Kay (Fred) Housley of Wolf Run and Becky (Steve) Hall of Summerfield; one brother, Dan (Sandy) Delong of Queensland, Australia; and several nieces and nephews, including special caregivers Jodi Hall of Bay Village and Keith Delong, RN, of Lexington, Kentucky, who provided many hours of loving care. Friends may call Thursday, November 29, 2007, from 2-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 30th at 11AM at Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley with Pastors Phil Golden and Jay Loucks officiating. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery, Calais. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Strecker Cancer Center, 401 Matthew Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
