Obituary for Rev. Paul B. McGraw, Sr.
Rev. Paul B. McGraw, Sr., age 103, formerly of Summerfield, died Saturday, November 20, 2004, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. He was born August 22, 1901, in Cowpens, Soutn Carolina, son of the late Cabe and Emily Johnson McCraw. He was a former employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 26 years; owned and operated the Akron/Greensburg Transit Line for 15 years; was the owner of McGraw's Marathon on Massillon Road in Akron; and was a bus driver for the Noble Local School District. He served as an interim pastor at Center Free Methodist Church, Sarahsville, and later served the church as assistant pastor. He also pastored at the Pleasant Hill Community Church and the Barrys Ridge Community Church in Noble County, and was a member of the First Brethren Church in Massillon. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Vera C. Lantzer McGraw on May 1, 1982; one son, Robert Allyn McGraw on January 24, 2004; eleven brothers, and one sister. Surviving are one son, Paul B. (Jean) McGraw, Jr. of Helenwood, Tennessee; one sister, Grace Evans of Greensboro, North Carolina; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends may call Monday, November 22, from 4-7PM at Center Free Methodist Church, Sarahsville. Funeral services will follow at 7PM with Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Private burial will be at Forrest Hill Cemetery, Canton, Ohio. Memorials may be made in Rev. McGraw's memory to the Center Free Methodist Church, 48296 SR 147 Sarahsville, Ohio.
