Raymond Poling, Jr., age 85, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Thursday, February 5, 2015, at his home. He was born February 14, 1929, in Center Twp., Noble County, son of the late Raymond A. and Rebecca Marie Kirkbride Poling. Mr. Poling was a United States Army veteran. He retired in 1997 as a front end loader operator for Shelley and Sands in Mansfield, and he had also been employed by Tri State Asphalt for 10 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, especially watching Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Ohio State sports, and he loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Maybelle Warrick and Ruth Denton; and one brother, Gerald Poling.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jean Harrell Poling, whom he married in 1957; one daughter, Judy L. (Tim) Funk of Beverly; one step-son, Bob (Nancy) Robinson of Buffalo, Ohio; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
There will be no service at this time. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.
