Obituary for O. Dean McKown
O. Dean McKown, age 75, of Newport, Ohio, died Monday, April 2, 2018, in the comfort of his son and daughter-in-law’s home in Caldwell. He was born April 1, 1943, in Lowell, son of the late Oval and Hazel Jane Parsons McKown. He was a 1962 graduate of Fort Frye High School, and he was a United States Army veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Carla and Darla McKown; one grandson, Nathanial Phillips; one sister, Margaret Stack; and two brothers, Robert and Roger McKown.
Surviving are his wife, Judith Darlene Barlow McKown, whom he married November 5, 1966; one daughter, Mary McKown (Stan Jones) of Marietta; two sons, Dean E. (Tiffany) McKown of Caldwell and Ricky McKown (Nikki Davis) of Newport; 8 grandchildren, Kenneth McKown, LeiLynd McKown, Laysei McKown, Koda McKown, Libby Phillips (Anthony Orr), Jaxon McKown, Rebecka Boyd, and Lucille Boyd; 1 great-grandson, Augustus Orr; three brothers, Eugene (Mary Lois) McKown of Crooked Tree, Charles (Bonnie) McKown of Macksburg, and Cecil (Debbie) McKown of Kimbolton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Friday, April 6th at 11AM. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Lund Cemetery in Macksburg conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
