Obituary for Norma Jane Smith
Norma Jane Smith, age 83, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. She was born August 4, 1933, in Caldwell, daughter of the late Floyd and Mildred Cale Davis. She attended Sarahsville High School, and she retired as a housekeeper for Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. From 1974-1981, she owned and operated Center Lunch in Sarahsville, and early in her life she was employed by the Noble County Home. Norma enjoyed visiting Amish country, flower gardening, and collecting cardinals and snowmen. She loved caring for her family, especially her beloved great-grandson Cayden.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn D. Rossiter, who died December 7, 2012; one sister, Thelma B. Rochus, who died February 11, 2016; and one brother, Loren R. Davis, who died March 25, 2016.
Surviving are one daughter, Darlene A. Baker of Pleasant City; one son-in-law, Jerry R. Rossiter of Caldwell; one sister-in-law, Joyce A. Davis of Pleasant City; three grandchildren, Brent Rossiter and Kent (Gretchen) Rossiter, all of Caldwell, and Arrissa (Brad) Hull of Senecaville; 7 great-grandchildren, Morgan (Ryan) Sills, Raechel Rossiter, Cayden Rucker, Liam Rossiter, Emmett Rossiter, Jace Hull, and Hailee Hull; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Friends may call Friday, January 27, 2017, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Saturday, January 28th at 11AM with Michael West officiating. Burial will follow at Center Free Methodist Church Cemetery.
